Rewriting the Story: How Faith Transformed Her Life

Three authors - Matthew, Mark and Luke - writing between 66 and 90 AD, told the story of a woman who had suffered from a hemorrhage for 12 years.

We don’t even know her name.

They simply called her “the woman with the issue of blood”. She was known - by her affliction - not her identity.

According to Mark and Luke she had visited countless doctors, spent everything she had, and yet, no one could help her. In fact, she only grew worse.

Imagine - twelve years of failed treatments, financial ruin, and deteriorating health.

Then she heard about Jesus - this healer who was performing miracles everywhere he went.

Desperate and out of options, she made a decision. She created her own miracle in her mind!

How?

She started saying to herself, “If I only touch His cloak, I WILL get well.”

She whispered this, over and over again. She wasn’t just hopeful; she believed.

She had already decided her outcome!

Some say the miracle happened when the bleeding stopped, after she touched Jesus’ cloak. But take another look at the story.

Jesus himself didn’t say, “My cloak healed you.”

He asked, “who touched my cloak? … I know that power has gone out from me.”

When the woman came forward, He said something profound:

“YOUR FAITH has healed you. Go in peace.”

Her faith - those words she kept repeating to herself - was the catalyst. It was what made the miracle possible.

So, what about you?

Right now, what are you saying to yourself?

What’s playing on repeat in your mind?

Is it fear? Anxiety? The diagnosis the doctor gave you, or the stress from work or family?

Maybe it’s time to start telling yourself a new story.

Instead of rehearsing what’s wrong, imagine what’s possible.

Picture the outcome you truly want.

Feel it. Claim it. Speak it, just like the woman did.

Then, after you’ve seen it clearly in your mind, go do something joyful - write a poem, try out a new recipe, or drum along with some friends.

Let that faith carry you through, and watch as what you’ve envisioned unfolds before your eyes.
